About The Position

Utica National Insurance Group is seeking a Regional Risk Management Manager to lead and manage the regional Risk Management function and staff. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality risk assessment, risk reduction, and risk consulting services to policyholders and prospective customers in accordance with company policies and procedures. The position will service New York State and Northern New Jersey. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in safety, health and environmental or engineering strongly preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 7-10 years in the risk control field.
  • At least 5 years direct management or supervisory experience.
  • Preferably, a Certified Safety Professional (C.S.P.) and/or with the Associate in Loss Control management or the Associate in Risk Management designation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the regional Risk Management function and staff to deliver high quality risk assessment, risk reduction and risk consulting services to policyholders and prospective customers.
  • Manage loss control workload and RMS internal and external (vendor) resources, ensuring timely and professional completion of RMS work.
  • Recruit, staff and train field RMS staff in assigned region.
  • Coach, train and facilitate the completion of high quality thorough underwriting risk assessment surveys, advancing staff’s risk assessment core property and liability skills.
  • Provide technical consultation to other departments, policyholders and producers.
  • Identify and facilitate delivery of targeted loss reduction work to accounts within the region, coaching and mentoring staff on root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Oversee and direct the delivery of risk management services to large accounts in the region by collaborating with underwriting, claims and regional leadership.
  • Evaluate field performance through joint risk visits and documented RMS work reports.
  • Lead the delivery of high quality and professional services to internal and external stakeholders, including timely responses to inquiries, advancing staff’s communication skills, and responding to customer questions and complaints.
  • Collaborate and maintain good relationships with regional underwriting, claims, and marketing departments.
  • Administer and control the salary, travel, equipment, and expense budgets for regions.
  • Advance understanding of Risk Management services and value add among direct reports, agency partners, clients, and internal peers through presentations and workshops.
