About The Position

The Regional Maintenance Manager assists operational Fleet Managers in multiple locations across regions with the routine and preventative maintenance needs of company-owned and leased equipment, ensuring compliance with company and DOT requirements. This role manages the financial aspects of the Maintenance Department, including budgets, purchased outside maintenance services, tire programs, parts inventory, warranty, and damaged equipment claims. The manager also assists with fuel cost analysis and tracking, manages the utilization of technology for efficient data monitoring and performance improvement, and oversees planned maintenance for all units in the region to secure uptime and minimize downtime. Additionally, the position is responsible for investigating cost-saving opportunities through root cause analysis, monitoring and managing third-party vendors, and assisting with lease versus purchasing analysis for equipment. Compliance with safety regulations (DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA) and maintaining equipment files, records, licenses, and inspections are key responsibilities. The role also focuses on continuous improvement, innovation, employee training, and development, including mentoring and training employees on DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on heavy truck maintenance experience.
  • 5 years of experience in management.
  • Strong maintenance knowledge of vehicle software systems.
  • Experience working with People Net, TMT, or similar software.
  • Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, sound decision-making, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Strong knowledge of TMT or similar technology within a fleet maintenance division.
  • Experience with onboard camera systems such as Bendix, LYTX, or similar.
  • Excellent computer skills with advanced-level MS Office programs, Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Fuel trailer experience.
  • Ability to plan, execute, and launch new programs or campaigns.
  • Accurate & compliant.
  • Goal oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
  • International mindset and ability to work with different types of personnel and cultures.
  • Ability to manage and motivate many personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Assists operational Fleet Managers in multiple locations across regions with routine and preventative maintenance needs of company-owned and leased equipment per company and DOT requirements.
  • Manages the financial requirements of the Maintenance Department, including budgets.
  • Manages purchased outside maintenance services, tire program, parts inventory, warranty, and damaged equipment claims.
  • Assists operations Fleet Managers with fuel costs and provides tracking reporting related to all fuel purchases.
  • Manages and ensures the proper utilization of technology for efficient data monitoring, staff performance, warranty coverage, and OEM cost-per-mile targets.
  • Assists with all planned maintenance and tracks for all units in the region.
  • Secures uptime on all vehicles and minimizes downtime and stand time.
  • Investigates and determines cost savings opportunities via root cause analysis, creates ROI, and presents findings to leadership.
  • Monitors and manages third-party vendors for optimal partnerships, quality, timely performance, and efficient pricing, setting KPI metrics.
  • Assists with analysis to determine lease versus purchasing of equipment, incorporating tax and accounting implications.
  • Ensures compliance in the maintenance of company equipment to meet company safety compliance and D.O.T., FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, and other government regulatory agencies.
  • Responsible for the integrity of equipment files, records, licenses, inspections, warranties, and service agreements.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement and innovation in processes, performance, action plans, and employee training and development.
  • Attends and completes all company development, safety, and compliance training.
  • Mentors and trains employees in adherence to DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA policies and procedures.
