About The Position

Partners with the Maintenance and Operations Team to maintain all equipment per the company and DOT requirements. Assists with the maintenance, repairs, equipment procurement, and inventory management of company assets across all three fleet locations including owned, leased, and rented equipment.

Requirements

  • Licensed Certified Mechanic: Requires a minimum of 8 years of hands-on heavy truck maintenance experience
  • 5 years’ experience in management.
  • Must possess strong maintenance knowledge of vehicle software systems.
  • Requires experience working with People Net, TMT, or similar software.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, strong critical thinking skills, sound decision-making skills, and negotiation skills.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Strong knowledge of TMT or similar technology within a fleet maintenance division.
  • Experience with onboard camera systems such as Bendix, LYTX, or similar.
  • Must possess excellent computer skills with advanced-level MS Office programs, Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Fuel trailer experience.
  • Ability to plan, execute, and launch new programs or campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the operational Fleet Managers in multiple locations across the regions in the routine and preventative maintenance needs of the company-owned and leased equipment per company and DOT requirements for all company locations.
  • Manages the financial requirements of the Maintenance Department including budgets.
  • Management of purchased outside maintenance services, tire program, parts inventory, warranty, and damaged equipment claims.
  • Assists operations Fleet Managers with fuel costs and provides tracking reporting related to all fuel purchases, tracking by the terminal, products, discounting, card usage, and locations purchased.
  • Manages and ensures the proper utilization of technology to obtain efficient data to monitor staff performance, increase warranty coverage, and adhere to OEM cost-per-mile targets.
  • Assists with all planned maintenance and tracks for all units in the region.
  • Secure uptime on all vehicles and minimum downtime and stand time.
  • Investigate and determine cost savings opportunities via root cause analysis; determine areas or opportunities for cost savings initiatives, create ROI, and present findings to leadership for approval.
  • Monitor and manage third-party vendors for the most optimum partnerships for quality and timely performance of services and efficient pricing; set KPI metrics for proper monitoring of vendor performance.
  • Assists with analysis to determine lease versus purchasing of equipment, incorporating tax and accounting implications and/or provides data to support Finance Department analysis, understands how analysis is achieved.
  • Ensures compliance in the maintenance of the company equipment to meet company safety compliance and D.O.T., FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, and any other government regulatory agencies.
  • Responsible for the integrity of the equipment files, records, licenses, inspections, warranties, and service agreements for the organization's transportation-related equipment and tools as per company and DOT regulations.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement and innovation as it relates to improving processes, addressing performance, creating action plans, and ensuring proper training and development of employees & peers.
  • Required to attend and complete all company development, safety, and compliance training, and mentor and train employees in adherence to DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA policies and procedures.
