About The Position

The primary responsibility of this position is to strategically partner with various business managers and provide top-notch timely guidance regarding human resource matters. This role involves providing direct HR support to an assigned region of Lumber or OSB mills, requiring travel up to 50% to these sites. The manager will determine root causes of turnover by conducting interviews and developing plans to reduce it. They will partner with local mill HR resources to optimize recruiting and retention for hourly talent, mentor and onboard local HR resources, and ensure compliance with all West Fraser policies and procedures. The role also includes assisting with employee relations issues, investigations, discipline, grievances, training in the region, and supporting program and policy rollouts. The Regional HR Manager may also temporarily backfill local mill HR resources as needed, work closely and collaboratively with Region and Mill GMs, and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Special projects and other duties as assigned are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 5 or more years as a HR Business Partner, HR Generalist, or HR Manager experience
  • 2 or more years of experience in either a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% via car and air when required
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
