About The Position

The primary responsibility of this position is to strategically partner with various business managers and provide top-notch timely guidance regarding human resource matters. This role involves providing direct HR support to an assigned region of Lumber or OSB mills, requiring travel up to 50% to these sites. The position focuses on determining root causes of turnover, developing plans to reduce it, and optimizing recruiting and retention for hourly talent in partnership with local mill HR resources. Additionally, the role includes mentoring and onboarding local HR resources, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, assisting with employee relations issues (investigations, discipline, grievances), supporting training and program rollouts, and temporarily backfilling local mill HR resources as needed. The Regional HR Manager will work closely and collaboratively with the Region GM and Mill GMs, and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 5 or more years as a HR Business Partner, HR Generalist, or HR Manager experience
  • 2 or more years of experience in either a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% via car and air when required
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all West Fraser policies and procedures
  • Assist in employee relations issues, including investigations, discipline and grievances
  • Assist with training in the region and support program and policy rollouts
