About The Position

The Referral Specialist coordinates, maintains, confirms, and/or secures referrals, authorizations, or pre-certifications needed for physician/clinic services. This role verifies the accuracy and completeness of admitting information on outpatient referrals and obtains authorizations when needed. The Referral Specialist also maintains and keeps updated referral logs.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent
Basic computer skills required

Nice To Haves

One to two years of medical office experience
Experience answering multiline telephone system
Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures
Knowledge of third party payers and pre-authorization requirements

Responsibilities

Welcome patients
Register patients
Schedules appointments, procedures, and testing as needed
Gather insurance, check demographics
Soft collections
Answering incoming calls
EPIC
Coordinates, maintains, confirms and/or secures referrals, authorizations, or pre-certifications needed on physician/clinic services.
Verifies the accuracy and completeness of admitting information on outpatient referrals and obtains authorizations when needed.
Maintains and keeps updated referral logs.
