Referral Specialist – Heart & Vascular Specialist Clinic – Full-Time, Days
About The Position
The Referral Specialist will deliver care to patients utilizing the Referral Specialist Process. This role will initiate and manage all components of clinical referrals for various services. The specialist will set up appointments and any special arrangements such as transportation, interpreter services, etc. They will also verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations, if needed, from insurance providers. This position acts as a liaison between hospitals, physicians, health plans, vendors, and patients or referral sources. The Referral Specialist coordinates the flow of information between the medical clinic and the referral authorization department to secure a valid referral for clinic patients. Additionally, they will develop and maintain a database of referral physician offices preferred by each physician within the clinic and assist the Practice Manager with complaint resolution and solutions related to patient referrals. The role involves entering referrals, documenting communications, and actions in the system.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Have strong customer skills
- Have good communication skills
- Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism
- Be a team player who handles multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Nice To Haves
- 2 years related experience in Healthcare environment (strongly preferred)
- Recent Medical Referral experience (strongly preferred)
