Reefer Technician / Transport Refrigeration Technician - Oak Creek, WI
About The Position
Transport Refrigeration, Inc. (TRI), a Thermo King dealer in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, is hiring an experienced Reefer Technician / Transport Refrigeration Technician to diagnose, service, and repair Thermo King transport refrigeration systems and related equipment. The role supports the safe and efficient operation of refrigerated transportation equipment, including truck and trailer refrigeration units, APUs, diesel-powered heaters, and truck cab A/C and HVAC systems. This is a full-time, first-shift position with a Monday–Friday schedule and available first-shift schedules. The technician participates in an on-call rotation after training and performs road service calls. Compensation is $55,000–$100,000 per year, based on experience. Requirements
- Previous experience servicing or diagnosing transport refrigeration systems.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent technical experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required technician tools/toolbox.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Professional, dependable, and safety-focused.
- Willingness to continue developing technical skills and certifications.
- Willingness to work overtime when needed.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Thermo King equipment; comparable reefer experience is welcome.
- Experience with diesel engines.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Thermo King transport refrigeration units.
- Perform preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on refrigeration systems.
- Identify electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration system issues.
- Service and repair APUs and diesel-powered heaters.
- Diagnose and repair truck cab A/C and HVAC systems.
- Complete repairs safely and accurately while maintaining service documentation.
- Participate in an on-call rotation after training and perform road service calls.
- Use OEM diagnostic software, test equipment, shop tools, hoists, and other service equipment.
- Complete repairs within standard repair times while maintaining quality and safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional service environment.
