About The Position

Transport Refrigeration, Inc. (TRI), a local Thermo King dealer, is hiring an experienced technician in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. The role diagnoses, repairs, and maintains transport refrigeration equipment, diesel engines, electrical systems, and related vehicle systems. Refrigeration experience is not required for experienced diesel and heavy-duty technicians; paid hands-on and factory training is provided to develop transport refrigeration skills. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, on first shift, with hours of either 7:00 AM–3:30 PM or 9:30 AM–6:00 PM. The pay range is $25.50–$40.00 per hour, based on experience. After training, technicians perform road service calls and participate in an on-call rotation. Overtime may be needed. TRI is a growing Thermo King dealership that provides sales, service, and OEM parts for transport refrigeration systems, mobile air conditioning, auxiliary power units, and diesel-fired heaters. The organization has served the trucking and transportation industries since 1964.

Requirements

Several years of experience as a Diesel Technician, Diesel Mechanic, Truck Mechanic, Heavy-Duty Technician, Trailer Technician, Reefer Technician, or in a similar role.
Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
Experience diagnosing and repairing engines, vehicles, trailers, HVAC systems, or heavy-duty equipment.
High school diploma/GED or equivalent technical experience.
Valid driver's license.
Dependable, safety-conscious, and motivated to learn.
Ability to obtain and maintain the required technician tools.
Willingness to work overtime when needed.

Nice To Haves

Refrigeration experience is a plus, but is not required for experienced diesel and heavy-duty technicians.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair Thermo King transport refrigeration units.
Troubleshoot diesel engines, electrical systems, and refrigeration components.
Perform preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs.
Service auxiliary power units (APUs), diesel heaters, and truck cab air-conditioning systems.
Diagnose HVAC, heating, cooling, and electrical problems.
Use diagnostic software, test equipment, and shop tools.
Perform road service calls and participate in an on-call rotation after training.
Complete repairs safely, accurately, and efficiently.
