About The Position
The Sorter safely and efficiently processes incoming recyclable materials so outbound commodities meet the requirements of brokers and mills. The role includes sorting recoverable materials, handling unacceptable waste, and coordinating with equipment operators when incoming loads require special attention.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a recycling facility sorting recyclable materials.
Responsibilities
- Sort and segregate recoverable materials, such as aluminum, plastic, glass, and paper, from incoming waste.
- Safely and efficiently deposit recoverable materials into the appropriate chute.
- Assist other sorters with heavy or bulky items as needed.
- Follow Company safety policies and procedures, including stopping the conveyor belt in an emergency.
- Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste and remove unacceptable items as required.
- Communicate with equipment operators about special waste or other loads requiring special attention.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
