About The Position

Recruiting is not a support function at Tenex; it's how the business is built. Recruiters at Tenex own their searches full cycle, from the first outbound note to the signed offer, for the AI Strategists, Forward-Deployed Engineers, and operators who go straight into our toughest client work. This role requires taking ambiguous, high-level direction and turning it into a sharp, targeted search, anticipating needs before roles even open. The primary focus will be on Forward-Deployed Engineers and AI Strategists, with occasional ad hoc roles. Recruiters are expected to be daily practitioners of the modern agentic AI stack, using it for sourcing, screening, and closing to compress search times. The goal is to place individuals who raise the bar of the firm, measured by the quality of hires and the speed of closing important searches. This role reports to the operations leader and partners closely with hiring managers in Strategy and Engineering. The position requires being in the office five days a week.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting or sourcing experience at a high-growth technology company or startup.
  • Proven track record hiring for genuinely hard roles, capable of holding credible conversations about the work with hiring managers.
  • Daily, hands-on use of the modern agentic AI stack (e.g., Claude, Cowork, ChatGPT) across all funnel stages.
  • Strong storytelling ability in writing and conversation, with a proactive follow-up approach.
  • Comfortable influencing at all organizational levels, using data over gut feelings.
  • Operationally sharp and detail-oriented, with experience building systems and creating structure.
  • Genuine care for the candidate experience.
  • High ownership, low ego, and a builder's instinct.

Responsibilities

  • Own full-cycle recruiting for core searches (Forward-Deployed Engineers, AI Strategists) and ad hoc roles, from first touch to signed offer.
  • Partner closely with hiring managers to understand roles deeply and translate abstract asks into concrete target lists, calibration, and close plans.
  • Build deeply targeted sourcing strategies, identifying companies, teams, and individuals worth pursuing before a search opens.
  • Manage candidate process with urgency and care, ensuring same-day follow-up and prompt booking of next steps.
  • Utilize the agentic AI stack hands-on for sourcing, screening, and closing, and identify opportunities for automation.
  • Manage pipeline data with integrity and use evidence in calibration conversations, spotting funnel problems early.
  • Drive offers end to end, including extending, negotiating, and closing.
  • Act as a filter to protect the hiring bar, ensuring high-agency, high-urgency candidates move forward.
  • Lead improvements in recruiting operations, including interview loops, scorecards, interviewer training, and playbooks.
