About The Position

The City of Pleasanton is seeking a dependable, hands-on, and community-minded individual to join their team as a Recreation Leader III – Senior Center. This part-time, temporary role involves maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the Pleasanton Senior Center for various programs, classes, and activities. Working under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor or Recreation Coordinator, the position supports daily facility operations through tasks such as room setup and teardown, supply organization, light maintenance, and cleaning. The goal is to ensure a positive and comfortable experience for all participants, instructors, volunteers, and staff at the Senior Center.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates an understanding of program objectives, operations, supplies and needs.
  • Demonstrates experience and/or familiarity with program operations.
  • Demonstrates some experience in emergency procedures and safety protocols.
  • Physically able to perform active work, including lifting or carrying up to 30 pounds.
  • Comfortable performing physical, hands-on work in a busy facility environment.
  • Able to stay organized, adapt to schedule and priority changes, and work independently.
  • Able to communicate clearly and exercise good judgment when identifying or reporting facility concerns.
  • Dependable, professional, and willing to provide support wherever needed.
  • Available to generally work weekday mornings, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., excluding City holidays.

  • May have taken classes or training courses in program area.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and tear down tables, chairs, rooms, and equipment for classes, programs, and special events.
  • Organize and maintain storage areas, equipment, and program supplies.
  • Assist with light maintenance tasks and equipment assembly.
  • Identify and report cleaning or facility concerns to the Recreation Supervisor or Recreation Coordinator.
  • Coordinate with the facility coffee contractor to help ensure supplies are ordered and equipment is maintained.
  • Assist with ordering equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Prepare coffee daily for the Senior Center.
  • Perform light cleaning of the facility as needed.
  • Conduct bi-weekly inspections of outdoor areas and report concerns to appropriate City staff.
  • Provide additional support to Recreation staff and assist with other assignments as needed.
