About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to supervise and coordinate activities and staff at an assigned recreation center. This role involves overseeing daily operations, managing staff, developing and implementing recreation programs, coordinating facility usage, managing budgets and bookkeeping, maintaining inventory and facility upkeep, providing customer service, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and codes.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Parks & Recreation or a related field.
• Three years of experience in recreation programming.
• Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, including developing work schedules, approving/processing employee concerns, and conducting performance appraisals.
• Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work to subordinates, ensuring they have the necessary resources and providing technical expertise.
• Coordinates, facilitates, and implements recreation and fitness programs and activities for the community, including developing schedules and promoting programs.
• Coordinates facility use, maintains the master calendar, schedules rentals, and prepares for events.
• Performs routine budgeting and bookkeeping functions, including monitoring expenditures and preparing bank deposits.
• Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies, purchases supplies, repairs equipment, and ensures proper maintenance and storage.
• Ensures the maintenance and cleanliness of the recreation center through regular inspections and scheduling of maintenance/repairs.
• Performs general customer service and administrative duties, responding to inquiries, processing registrations, and preparing reports.
• Ensures center compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures, and enforces safety procedures.
