Recovery Specialist
About The Position
The Recovery Specialist handles daily recovery-related operations within the Recovery Department and provides technical direction for the team’s recovery activities. The role helps train and mentor Recovery staff and assists the Recovery Manager and Recovery Director in coordinating unit work. It also supports invoicing issues, recovery sale proceeds, title distribution, legal issues, salvage liquidation, and remarketing needs. The position reviews settled files received from Claims to determine assignment distribution, manages a partial skip claim portfolio and salvage files, and conducts initial reviews of recovery-related legal issues. It oversees salvage assignments, title document requests, bid approvals, and sale proceeds. The Recovery Specialist also guides and educates team members, communicates procedure updates, helps train new employees, explains the recovery process to lenders and outside contacts, and collaborates across teams and departments. In addition, the role assists with ACH and recovery proceeds disbursement, maintains recovery spreadsheets, and helps ensure service-level requirements are met.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3–4 years of related experience.
Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate settled files received from Claims and distribute new assignments to Recovery staff.
- Distribute special incentive assignments for recovery vendors.
- Handle a partial skip claim portfolio and all salvage files.
- Conduct the initial review of recovery-related legal issues by facilitating the Allied Legal Referral form and following up with the Allied Legal department.
- Oversee salvage assignments, title document requests, bid approvals, and receipt of sale proceeds.
- Provide guidance and instruction to team members on recovery-related questions.
- Communicate procedure updates by email and/or template.
- Help train and educate new employees on processes and procedures.
- Explain the recovery process to lenders and outside contacts.
- Collaborate with team members, upper management, and other departments to achieve recovery results.
- Implement policies and procedures under the direction of higher-level management.
- Assist the Recovery Manager with proper disbursement of ACH and recovery proceeds to insurance carriers.
- Update recovery spreadsheets promptly and accurately with sale information.
- Assist the Recovery Manager and Recovery Director in ensuring the team meets service-level requirements and standards.
- Assist with invoicing issues, recovery sale proceeds, title distribution, legal issues, salvage liquidation, and remarketing needs.
