About The Position

At Mercedes-Benz of Anchorage, every pre-owned vehicle we put in front of a guest has to be right -- mechanically sound, properly inspected, and frontline ready. The Reconditioning Technician is the person who makes that happen. This role is focused exclusively on used vehicle reconditioning: assessing incoming trade-ins and pre-owned inventory, completing the mechanical work needed to get each vehicle to our standard, and turning vehicles around efficiently so they're available for guests without unnecessary delay.

Requirements

• 2+ years of mechanical or automotive technician experience -- required. Any brand background welcome: domestic, import, or luxury
• Comfortable performing a broad range of maintenance and minor repair work across different vehicle platforms -- oil services, brakes, tires, fluids, filters, and safety items
• Efficient and accurate -- flat-rate reconditioning rewards technicians who can assess a vehicle quickly, complete the work correctly, and move on without rework
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Nice To Haves

• Mercedes-Benz experience not required -- reconditioning work spans multiple makes and models and your mechanical fundamentals are what this role depends on
• ASE certifications a plus -- not required

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough mechanical inspections on incoming used and trade-in vehicles -- identifying all items needed to bring each vehicle to frontline-ready condition
• Complete reconditioning work efficiently and accurately -- oil and fluid services, brakes, tires, belts, filters, minor mechanical repairs, and safety-related items across a variety of makes and models
• Document all inspection findings and completed work accurately on repair orders -- clear records support pricing decisions and protect the store from liability
• Coordinate with the used vehicle manager and service team on reconditioning priorities -- the goal is fast, accurate turnaround that keeps pre-owned inventory moving
• Flag items beyond the scope of reconditioning -- major mechanical issues, structural concerns, or work requiring specialized equipment -- and escalate appropriately
• Work efficiently on a flat-rate structure -- your throughput and your accuracy both show up in your paycheck
