Receiving Clerk - Direct Store Delivery
About The Position
Meijer is hiring a Direct Store Delivery (DSD) Receiving Clerk to receive and process incoming inventory. The role involves unloading and verifying shipments, checking products for accuracy and damage, documenting inventory, handling returns according to company policy, and working with other departments to resolve receiving-related issues. The clerk also monitors vendor activity and inventory levels, reports problems and inconsistencies, and helps maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary store environment. The job offers full-time and part-time opportunities, with shifts from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in 4-, 6-, and 8-hour options.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Be detail-oriented and organized.
- Ability to safely operate a pallet jack or other warehouse equipment.
- Strong listening and communication skills, both face-to-face and virtually.
- Willingness to learn or familiarity with job-specific technology.
- Problem-solving ability and willingness to troubleshoot.
- Ability to follow procedures in an organized and efficient way.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with fellow partners.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, and twist while handling products.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Desire to work with customers consistently.
Nice To Haves
- Current or past experience as a Logistics Coordinator, Inventory Specialist, or Shipping & Receiving Clerk.
Responsibilities
- Receive direct store delivery products, check their accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and assess products for damage.
- Check truck inventory, unload products, and ensure the accuracy of inventory, product ordering, and related paperwork.
- Monitor vendor activity and product stocking, and advise vendors of actions needed, such as cleaning shelves and designated backroom areas.
- Advise department managers of vendor or product problems.
- Monitor inventory levels and report supply and demand inconsistencies.
- Greet customers, answer questions, and respond to customer complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment by following company safety procedures.
- Accurately document and record inventory, and process returns according to company policy.
