About The Position

A rebar production worker at Nucor Rebar Fabrication bends, cuts, bundles, and loads reinforcing steel bars according to customer orders. New employees work with a mentor who trains them to use machinery safely. The role requires working outdoors and maintaining safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Previous construction, landscaping, or other trades experience is beneficial and may provide opportunities for advancement. The position is currently hiring for the night shift, scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. The schedule may fluctuate depending on business needs.

Requirements

Must be able to work overtime when required.
Able to read and comprehend basic safety and operational instructions.
Able to perform basic math for accurate bar measurements.
Must be able to work in an outdoor environment.
Must demonstrate the ability to uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.

Nice To Haves

Previous work in construction or landscaping.
Previous trades experience; candidates with trades experience tend to be successful and may have significant advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities

Unload trailers and store material in storage bins.
Operate a shearing machine or power saw to cut reinforcing steel bars to specified lengths.
Operate a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shapes.
Operate an overhead crane to move, assemble, and select material for fabrication or shipment.
Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
Operate a spray gun to apply epoxy touch-up to reinforcing steel bars.
Keep the shop or designated area clean and safe.
Initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
