About The Position

Nucor Rebar Fabrication is hiring a Rebar Fabricator for its Salt Lake City, Utah location. The role involves fabricating reinforcing steel bars to customer orders by cutting, bending, bundling, assembling, and loading material. A mentor will provide training in the safe use of machinery. Candidates must be able to work outdoors. Previous construction, landscaping, or other trades experience is a plus and may support advancement within the organization. Safety is a primary responsibility, including following and upholding safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards. The position is scheduled for the night shift, 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.; the schedule may fluctuate based on business needs.

Requirements

Must be able to work overtime when required.
Able to read and comprehend basic safety and operational instructions.
Able to perform basic math for accurate bar measurements.
Must be able to work in an outdoor environment.
Some heavy lifting may be necessary.
Working conditions may be noisy, dusty, hot, or cold.

Previous work in construction or landscaping is a plus.
Previous trades experience is associated with success in the role and may provide an opportunity for advancement.

Responsibilities

Unload trailers and store material in storage bins.
Operate a shearing machine or power saw to cut reinforcing steel bars to specified lengths.
Operate a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shapes.
Operate an overhead crane to move, assemble, and select material for fabrication or shipment.
Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
Operate a spray gun to apply epoxy touch-up to reinforcing steel bars.
Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner.
Initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
