About The Position

The Ready Mix Driver operates a truck equipped with a concrete mixer to deliver concrete to job sites. The driver completes pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations, including checking vehicle fluids, tires, brakes, and controls used for loading and unloading. Drivers use a map book and their experience to select a direct route and deliver on time, then safely maneuver the truck on often unstable job-site ground while observing surrounding equipment and conditions. At the end of each shift, drivers wash the truck with a hose and brush, using an acidic solution when necessary. Drivers call in each day to confirm their start time.

The position averages 10 hours per day, 4–6 days per week, and involves frequent lifting of 50 pounds and exposure to extreme temperatures. A Class A or B CDL is required. Candidates must be able to pass a federal DOT drug screen and physical and maintain a driving record that complies with federal and state motor carrier regulations.

Requirements

• Class A or B CDL.
• High school diploma at minimum, or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to pass a Federal Department of Transportation drug screen and physical.
• Maintain a driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations.
• Ability to handle cash and make change.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak in English.
• Able to frequently lift 50 pounds and work in extreme temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Drive a concrete mixer truck to deliver concrete mix to job sites.
• Perform pre-trip truck inspections in accordance with DOT regulations, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, brakes, and driver-operated loading and unloading controls.
• Use a map book and experience to choose a direct route and ensure timely delivery.
• Safely maneuver the truck at job sites, including on unstable ground, and observe customers’ equipment and site conditions.
• Wash the truck after each shift with a hose and brush, using acidic solution when necessary.
• Call in each day to confirm the start time.
• Perform a post-trip truck inspection in accordance with DOT regulations.
