The Ramp Agent is responsible for the safe boarding of customers and luggage onto aircraft, monitoring the movements of planes while on the ground, and communicating with pilots, operations, ticket agents, TSA, and local law enforcement. This role involves loading and offloading passengers safely and courteously, accurately marshalling aircraft with hand signals, and possessing knowledge of emergency procedures and hazardous materials handling. The agent will also communicate via radio, understand SIDA area security protocols, and be knowledgeable about firearm procedures. Maintaining customer relations, safely operating ground equipment, carrying out de-ice procedures, and accurately calculating baggage weight are key duties. Additionally, the role may involve driving a passenger shuttle bus and performing other assigned duties.
