About The Position

The Radiology Technologist performs imaging examinations according to physicians’ orders, using a variety of sophisticated imaging equipment and taking into account each patient’s unique and age-related needs. The role applies clinical knowledge and judgment to determine proper positioning, technique, radiation-dose calibration, and patient treatment needed to produce high-quality images. Examinations are performed with minimal radiation exposure to patients and operators, with awareness of ALARA principles.

This part-time, day-shift position is at Providence St Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon, and is scheduled Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Providence describes its culture as patient-focused, whole-person care built on understanding, commitment, and mutual respect.

Requirements

• Education sufficient to meet certification, licensure, or registration requirements.
• Oregon Radiographer License upon hire, or Oregon Radiographer Temporary License upon hire.
• National certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists within 6 months (180 days) of hire.
• National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
• New graduates must have an OBMI temporary license and obtain a permanent license within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform imaging examinations according to physicians’ orders using imaging equipment.
• Account for patients’ individual and age-related needs during examinations.
• Use clinical knowledge and judgment to determine proper positioning, technique, radiation-dose calibration, and patient treatment to produce high-quality images.
• Perform examinations while minimizing radiation exposure to patients and operators and applying ALARA awareness.
