About The Position

The Radiology Technologist operates X-ray equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images. The role includes positioning patients, maintaining equipment, and following hygiene and infection-control protocols. The technologist monitors patients during procedures for adverse reactions to contrast agents and communicates with patients to explain procedures and provide reassurance.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent from an accredited two-year college or technical school, along with one year of related experience and training.
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Awareness of potential exposure to body fluids and infectious diseases.
• Strong technical proficiency in operating X-ray equipment and related technology.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and medical staff.
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to patient care.
• Ability to stay current with advances in radiologic technology and protocols.
• Strong attention to detail and critical-thinking skills for evaluating images and ensuring quality.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience is preferred.
• One year of experience in an emergency room (ER) hospital setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Position patients accurately for X-rays to target specific body areas.
• Perform regular equipment warm-up procedures.
• Sterilize and maintain radiologic equipment to uphold patient safety standards.
• Interpret and accurately follow physicians’ written instructions.
• Assess films for technical quality and report inconsistencies or deficiencies.
• Explain procedures to patients and provide reassurance to support a comfortable experience.
• Monitor patients for allergic reactions or complications and respond appropriately.
• Maintain an inventory of radiologic supplies and report shortages or needs to the supervisor.
