About The Position

Tangram is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to design and develop embedded software for Electronic Warfare (EW) and RF sensing systems. The role involves architecting hardware, firmware, and software partitioning for calibration algorithms and processing structures; building and integrating software-defined radios (SDRs) and RF front-ends; and translating EW concepts into deployable capabilities. The engineer will implement system models in C and MATLAB, collaborate with FPGA and hardware teams to integrate real-time algorithms, and participate in prototyping, testing, data collection, and validation. The position also contributes to product-roadmap discussions and supports proposals and white papers. The role is based in Dayton, Ohio, with up to 20% travel, and requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • At least 6 years of experience designing signal processing for Electronic Warfare systems.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++, MATLAB, and Python.
  • Experience with at least one modern systems language: Rust, Go, or Zig.
  • Hands-on experience with SDRs and RF data pipelines.
  • Working knowledge of Electronic Warfare concepts and RF/analog components.
  • Familiarity with DSP concepts and Linux development environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in cross-functional teams.
  • Based in Dayton, Ohio; willing to travel up to 20%.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree with at least 3 years of experience.
  • Experience with GNU Radio or similar frameworks.
  • Background in SIGINT, ELINT, or radar systems.
  • Familiarity with Open Architectures, including OMS and FACE standards.
  • Exposure to FPGA/firmware interfaces such as VHDL or Verilog.
  • Interest in REDHAWK, LabView, or Simulink.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded software for Electronic Warfare and RF sensing systems.
  • Architect hardware, firmware, and software partitioning for calibration algorithms and processing structures.
  • Build and integrate software for software-defined radios (SDRs) and RF front-ends.
  • Translate Electronic Warfare concepts, including EA, ES, and EP, into deployable capabilities.
  • Implement system models in C and MATLAB for optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with FPGA and hardware teams to integrate real-time algorithms.
  • Prototype operational capabilities and participate in testing, data collection, and validation.
  • Contribute to the product roadmap through direct interaction with Engineering Leadership.
