Quilter-Cutter - Asheville
About The Position
The Quilter-Cutter operates the quilting machine and spreads and cuts fabric according to specifications and established work, quality, and safety procedures. Under the general supervision of the Senior Sewing Supervisor, the employee sets up batting, fabric, and thread in the machine; monitors the quilting process and corrects flawed areas; and follows vendor recommendations for equipment operation and maintenance. The employee reports product or procedure concerns to the supervisor and maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work area. The role may also include assisting other personnel, participating in training and meetings, and performing other assigned duties. On-the-job training is provided.
Requirements
- High school education level.
- Able to visually inspect fabric as it is being quilted.
- Able to stand for long periods.
- Able to work planned and unplanned overtime.
- Able to work professionally as part of a team.
- Able to understand and perform duties using established work, quality, and safety procedures.
- Able to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Detail oriented.
- Able to perform effectively under fluctuating workloads.
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Set up batting, fabric, and thread in the quilting machine.
- Monitor the quilting process, stopping the machine and correcting flawed areas.
- Spread and cut fabric according to specifications.
- Follow vendor recommendations for equipment operation and maintenance.
- Notify the supervisor of problems or concerns regarding products or procedures.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
- Assist other personnel as time and knowledge permit.
- Participate in training and meetings as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
