About The Position

The Quality Lead is responsible for adhering to all health and safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) in warehouse or production areas. This role ensures compliance with food quality and food safety standards, including Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements. The Quality Lead will perform duties outlined in the QA Technician job description, monitor and maintain the microbiology program, in-process quality, lab testing, equipment, and the water treatment system. They will ensure accurate test results through proper operation, cleanliness, and calibration of laboratory equipment, maintaining laboratory cleanliness according to Good Laboratory Practice. The role involves conducting routine checks on the production line, acting as the initial Quality point of contact, testing products on hold to determine disposition, and assisting with seam evaluations with OEM vendors. Additionally, the Quality Lead will prepare and send product samples as required, send water samples to a 3rd party laboratory quarterly and annually, and conduct or carry out training to maintain and optimize performance or increase cross-function ability. They will also execute job duties according to QA standards and testing requirements to maximize process and minimize non-conformance, assign work delegation as directed by Management, and accurately complete all associated documents as per the QA SOP Manual.

Requirements

• Proficient in Excel, Word, SAP and Power Point.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems, results oriented.
• High level of precision and accuracy in inspection and testing processes.
• Understanding of Food Safety/Quality Requirements.
• Able to read and understand metric system.
• Prior inspection experience in a laboratory setting.
• Organized and detail oriented, adaptable to change.
• Skilled in maintaining accurate and detailed records of inspections and tests.
• Commitment to maintaining high ethical standards in all quality assurance activities.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing production environments and requirements.
• Clear and concise communication with production staff and management.
• Ability to troubleshoot machinery and production issues efficiently, collaborating with others to resolve complex issues, adaptability to changing circumstances and willingness to implement new procedures.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 - 4 years of experience in Quality within a manufacturing environment, preferable food/beverage industry.
• Laboratory experience required.
• In plants co-packaging alcoholic beverages, sensory tasting must be at least 21 years old.
• Knowledge of quality systems (GMP, HACCP, SQF) – certification ideal.

Nice To Haves

• Exposure to using measurement tools and equipment (e.g., HPLC, Densitometer, pH, etc) preferred.
• Familiarity with GFSI, GMP, and other relevant standards and regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assign work delegation as directed by Management.
• Accurately complete all associated documents as per QA SOP Manual.
