About The Position

PennEngineering is seeking a motivated student for its 2027 intern program. The 10–12-week summer internship offers hands-on experience, mentorship, exposure to manufacturing and research facilities, interaction with company leaders, professional networking, and opportunities to support engineering projects in manufacturing, operations, or technology development.

The Quality Intern supports quality and customer-centered initiatives, helping ensure compliance with product performance and application understanding. The role focuses on customer concerns, clear communication, and managing multiple tasks. The intern will help manage initial customer issues through the EQMS process, support containment actions, collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers, contribute to AI tools for dashboard building, assist with corrosion-performance improvement projects, communicate process changes to customers, maintain sustainability and compliance records, and support reporting and 8D completion.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Quality, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the 5W1H process within the EQMS process to communicate key elements of customer concerns to manufacturing locations.
• Work with manufacturing locations on initial containment actions to help control costs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality liaisons and suppliers, to gather documentation and data for reporting.
• Work on the development of AI tools for dashboard building, including Axion, SQUINT, and Claude.
• Assist with research and implementation for a project focused on corrosion-performance improvements.
• Provide clear and accurate information to improve customer understanding and satisfaction regarding associated process changes.
• Maintain records of sustainability metrics and compliance documentation.
• Assist in preparing management reports on issue resolution and work with manufacturing locations on 8D completion as needed.
