About The Position

Dorman Products is seeking an engineering student to join its Quality Engineering team for a 10-week summer internship in 2027. The intern will assist with product review and testing, containment activities, communication with engineers, and verification of vendor corrective actions. Performance will be monitored to support learning and development. At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will present project details to the leadership team. This is a hybrid role based at Dorman’s corporate location in Colmar, Pennsylvania, in suburban Philadelphia. The schedule is Monday through Thursday onsite, with the opportunity to work from home on Friday. The position is suited to someone who is highly organized, can understand direction, and communicates results effectively.

Requirements

Actively pursuing a technical degree in an engineering-related discipline.
Ability to learn how to perform product qualification testing.
Ability to learn to use inspection tools and test equipment.
Ability to interpret procedures and work instructions.
Computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Strong organization, ability to understand direction, and effective communication of results.

Automotive product experience.

Responsibilities

Understand primary types of customer complaints.
Assist with containment and determining root causes for customer product satisfaction gaps.
Work with Quality Engineers to determine root causes for returned products.
Participate in cross-functional teams investigating issues.
Support product development and reverse engineering functions.
Support local site quality and operations.
Help implement controls to prevent recurrence of nonconformances.
Assist in reviewing and testing products.
Communicate with engineers and verify the effectiveness of vendor corrective actions.
Present project details to the leadership team at the conclusion of the internship.
