Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Aerospace/Aviation Management or Equivalent Experience
  • 6+ years Quality Inspection on aircraft components and systems –or– In lieu of a bachelor's degree, have 10 years combined experience as a quality inspector and/or certificated aviation maintenance technician (AMT) on aircraft systems
  • Must possess a valid/current Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License to be considered
  • Able to support functions in multiple areas such as, but not limited to production, repair station, manufacturing, composites, electrical/avionics back-shop, warehousing, dynamic component repair, blades and tailboom back-shop
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations 14 CFR Parts 21, 43 and 145
  • Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Requirements and Systems
  • Advanced level of computer skills
  • Subject matter expert for Adobe Acrobat, SAP & Google Suite
  • Travel Required: 15% Domestic and International
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Person under ITAR definition (a U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license)
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Must have correctable near and far vision if applicable.
  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to distinguish sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Daily Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Daily Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. 15% or less yearly.
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure inspection criteria and activities performed are in accordance with approved data, maintenance manuals and regulatory requirements (i.e. FAA/OHSA/EPA), as well as company policies and procedures
  • Actively participate in all quality gates and/or in-process milestone inspections to identify potential issues and ensure that articles and aircraft are on schedule
  • Coordinate with Quality Engineering, Design Office and Technical Support to resolve technical issues/non-conformities in a timely manner and maintain target delivery date
  • Collaborate with Civil and Military Programs counterparts to meet customer contract requirements
  • Review work performed for proper documentation
  • Supervise inspection of a variety of articles, products, or materials manufactured onsite or received from suppliers
  • Manage final inspections to verify conformance to type design
  • Attends all department and company meetings to address any quality related issues.
  • Reports daily quality activities
  • Ability to return to service company owned aircraft.
  • Provide facility tours to customers and victors as required.
  • Acts as a Lead Auditor on the Internal Audit Team.

  • Demonstrate situational awareness skills by critically analyzing complex situations to create balance between the needs of the customer, regulations, and company objectives
  • Motivate and develop the quality team to which they are assigned objectives are met.
  • Focal point for performing interviews and final selections for inspection personnel with guidance and oversight from quality management
  • Ensure completeness of inspection employees’ Training Records and compliance with annual training requirements in MyPulse and Loft
  • Work in an SAP, NCM and/or MES systems for management of non-conformities, activity rates, and time card approvals
  • Assist the team in troubleshooting issues and coordinate with supporting departments to recommend resolution plans
  • Liaise with partners to handle and correct issues that originate from assigned area of responsibility
  • Use processes and metrics such as, but not limited to SQCDP, key performance indicators, practical problem solving (PPS), plan do check act (PDCA), root cause and corrective action and other quality department metrics to support continuous improvement of company policies, procedures, and processes ensuring that company objectives are on target.
  • Identify and recommend lean manufacturing projects that will improve the overall process
  • Coordinate technical/quality status updates to department management for reporting to internal/external parties
  • Suggest and implement changes in working conditions and identify equipment to increase the efficiency, accuracy, safety and quality of department and work crew
  • Create and issue CARs
