About The Position

The Quality Assurance Specialist inspects and evaluates produce entering The Fresh Market’s distributor facility to ensure it meets company standards. The role requires produce expertise and reports to the Quality Assurance Manager. The specialist acts as a company representative within the distributor’s facility and may travel within an assigned territory, including occasional overnight travel; travel is listed as 40%.

• At least 4 years of produce quality assurance or produce retail experience.

• Knowledge of general operating aspects of the produce business.
• Knowledge of USDA produce standards preferred.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to interpret instructions presented in written, oral, or diagram form.

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality results by following and enforcing standards.
• Inspect all produce entering the facility.
• Monitor coolers to ensure products are handled and rotated properly.
• Ensure produce is shipped to stores in a timely manner to maintain freshness and quality.
• Communicate concerns to the Quality Assurance Manager to coordinate corrective-action communication.
• Provide the Produce Category team with updates on produce quality levels.
• Refuse produce at the distributor that does not meet The Fresh Market’s standards.
• Monitor shipping temperatures to help ensure produce arrives at stores fresh.
• Interpret and enforce quality assurance standards.
• Act as a company representative within the distributor’s facility.
