About The Position

The QA Lab Technician collects, prepares, and/or tests samples; maintains accurate and legible records of testing; records and analyzes data; and presents results. The role also involves maintaining and cleaning equipment and ensuring sanitary conditions in the laboratory. Other tasks may be assigned by a supervisor or manager.

The position requires working independently, managing time effectively, communicating with hourly employees, plant management, and USDA personnel, and being willing to learn and cross-train in departmental tasks. Extended shifts may be required. The work may involve product and facility temperatures, wet and moist floors, noise, and processing chemicals. Required protective and safety equipment must be worn and used as directed.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Be eager and willing to learn.
• Have flexibility; extended shifts may be required.
• Be able to work unsupervised and be self-motivated.
• Have a sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
• Have a good attendance history, defined as 2 points or less.
• Be willing to be cross-trained and learn all tasks in the department.
• Have basic computer skills.
• Know how to manage time effectively to complete assigned tasks.
• Be able to communicate effectively with hourly employees, plant management, and USDA personnel.
• Be able to move freely for the duration of the shift.

Responsibilities

• Collect, prepare, and/or test samples.
• Keep accurate and legible records of all testing completed.
• Record and analyze data and present results.
• Maintain and clean equipment.
• Ensure sanitary conditions are maintained in the laboratory area.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by a supervisor or manager.
• Complete assigned tasks using effective time management.
• Communicate with other hourly employees, plant management, and USDA personnel.
• Wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the position.
