About The Position

The Purchasing & Inventory Analyst plays a critical role in optimizing the supply chain and inventory management processes within a retail environment. This position is responsible for analyzing purchasing trends, forecasting inventory needs, and ensuring that stock levels align with sales demand to maximize profitability and minimize waste. The analyst collaborates closely with suppliers, procurement teams, and sales departments to maintain efficient purchasing cycles and timely replenishment of merchandise. By leveraging data analytics and market insights, the role supports strategic decision-making to improve cost efficiency and customer satisfaction. Ultimately, the Purchasing & Inventory Analyst ensures that inventory is accurately tracked, well-managed, and aligned with the company’s operational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or 3-5 YEARS experience in a related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, inventory analysis, or supply chain management within the retail industry.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to effectively interact with suppliers and internal teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Certification in supply chain or procurement (e.g., CPSM, CPIM) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with retail merchandising and sales forecasting techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze historical sales data and market trends to forecast inventory requirements accurately.
  • Develop and maintain purchasing schedules to ensure optimal stock levels and timely replenishment.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and procurement teams to negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and terms.
  • Monitor inventory turnover rates and identify slow-moving or obsolete stock to recommend corrective actions.
  • Generate detailed reports on purchasing activities, inventory status, and cost analysis for management review.
  • Utilize inventory management software to track stock levels, orders, and deliveries.
  • Coordinate with sales and marketing teams to align inventory availability with promotional campaigns and seasonal demand.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in purchasing and inventory control to enhance operational efficiency.
