As a Purchasing Agent at Norristown State Hospital, you will contribute to important procurement efforts that help the hospital deliver high-quality services. Requirements

• Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.
• Must meet the PA residency requirement.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Must pass a background investigation.
• Conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Review and process shopping carts in SAP and SRM for supplies, commodities, parts, and services
• Set up bidding methods, schedule bid openings, and communicate results to vendors and staff
• Locate sources of supply, confirm pricing, and contact vendors to resolve issues or place emergency orders
• Check requisitions for accuracy, required specifications, and proper justification before submission
• Assist departments with proposals, fixed asset orders, and daily purchasing needs
• Work closely with accounting, warehouse, and supervisory staff to ensure smooth purchasing operations
