About The Position

Make a real difference by helping a busy hospital get what it needs to succeed! As a Purchasing Agent Supervisor with the Department of Human Services, you will support major purchasing activities that keep services safe and reliable. This role gives you the chance to take charge, solve problems, and work closely with many parts of the organization. It is an exciting opportunity for someone who likes fast-paced, hands-on work! This position oversees purchasing activities and leads staff who manage supplies, services, and equipment for the hospital.

Requirements

One year as a Purchasing Agent (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Four years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
Four years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
Conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.

Responsibilities

Supervise purchasing agents and clerical employees
Monitor contract awards and ensure compliance with rules and guidelines
Check purchasing requests for proper coding, accuracy, and correct contract references
Resolve routine and complex purchasing, delivery, and invoicing problems
Prepare or review bid specifications and follow purchasing procedures
Maintain vendor records and communicate about bids, delivery, and payments
