Requirements

  • Two years as a Registered Nurse Instructor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Three years of professional nursing experience which included one year in Nurse Instruction and a master's degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Direct training programs for many clinical roles and ensure content stays current with health care standards
  • Coordinate and deliver orientation for new employees, students, and contract providers
  • Provide assistance to clinical departments by helping identify training needs and developing targeted educational programs
  • Plan and conduct Basic Life Support (BLS) training and manage staff development schedules and policies
  • Maintain accurate training records to meet DHS and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements and support accreditation needs
  • Train staff on electronic health record use and troubleshoot system issues in collaboration with key hospital departments
