Requirements

  • Two years as a Nurse Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) in a facility providing nursing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability; or Eight years of professional nursing experience, including three years in a managerial capacity providing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability; and a bachelor's degree in nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration.
  • A master's degree in nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration may be substituted for up to one year of the required general professional nursing work experience.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years in a managerial capacity providing nursing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability.
  • Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates psychiatric and medical nursing care to support patient treatment and facility goals.
  • Guides Nurse Manager 1s and Registered Nurse Supervisors, and evaluates staff performance.
  • Ensures nursing practices follow hospital policies and state and federal standards.
  • Assists with budget planning, equipment needs, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Assigns and supervises care based on patient status, required interventions, and staff competency.
  • Works with other disciplines to develop and support comprehensive treatment programs.
