The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department and Port of San Francisco Greenager Program is a youth stewardship and leadership program for students in grades 9–11 who live in or attend school in the Tenderloin, Northeast, or Southeast neighborhoods. Participants help improve the City’s green spaces, raise awareness, and create place-based projects around issues they value. Greenagers receive training and leadership opportunities, lead public volunteer service projects, participate in community events, and take part in team excursions. First-Year Greenagers learn about habitat restoration, environmental education, working with volunteers, presenting a community research project, and leading volunteer days. Second-Year Greenagers are returning program graduates who complete daily program summaries, plan a project day, provide staff feedback, mentor First-Year Greenagers, evaluate mentees, and lead first-year participants in icebreakers, restoration, and environmental education activities. The position is a seasonal, temporary exempt, as-needed appointment. Compensation is $25.00 per hour. Applicants must submit an online application and a Supplemental Questionnaire; returning Greenager graduates must also submit a cover letter. The stated orientation and start dates are February 13, 2027, for Second-Year Greenagers and February 20, 2027, for First-Year Greenagers.
