About The Position

Crowe is hiring a project manager to support the California State Controller’s Office (SCO) and its California State Payroll System (CSPS) project, a large and complex SaaS implementation covering personnel and payroll functions for approximately 300,000 employees across 160 agencies and 21 bargaining units. The project has an estimated budget exceeding $1 billion, a team approaching 200 IT professionals, and is expected to continue for several years. The role works within the CSPS Project Management Office (PMO), which oversees the execution, maintenance, and enhancement of project management plans. The PMO ensures formal project management processes are followed across leadership, functional, technical, and organizational change management workstreams; maintains documentation in accordance with policy and procedure; reports periodically on project risks, issues, and project health; supports monitoring of system integrator performance; and recommends improvements to project management processes. The successful candidate will work directly with client and system integrator staff in a highly complex IT implementation, providing professional client service and contributing to project delivery. Remote work is allowed, but the employee must be based in the continental United States. Occasional travel to Sacramento for project meetings may be required with advance notice. All staff must work 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific time, regardless of location. A background check conducted by SCO must be passed before work begins.
