About The Position

The City of Rahway Police Department is recruiting two full-time Public Safety Telecommunicators. The primary duty is answering calls received on the Police switchboard, including 911 calls, and dispatching personnel and equipment. The role also includes other duties outlined in, but not limited to, the Civil Service Commission title Public Safety Telecommunicator Trainee. Training will be provided. Applicants must be available for flexible hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Pre-employment drug screening and background checks are conducted. This position is included in the City Hall Union Local 32 OPEIU bargaining unit. Preference is given to Rahway residents.

Requirements

• Possess an NJ Basic Telecommunicator Certification.
• Be available to work flexible hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Undergo pre-employment drug screening and background checks.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience is an asset.
• Rahway residency is preferred.
