About The Position

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a Public Health Educator III to join the Maine Immunization Program. This position focuses on conducting quality assurance visits for the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program, disseminating health information, and serving as the Adolescent Vaccine Coordinator. The role involves providing education, technical assistance, and customer service to healthcare providers and the public regarding immunizations. This position allows for partial telework with management approval and requires regular travel throughout assigned counties. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, or Health Education.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in community or health education program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Directly related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality assurance site visits for the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program.
  • Disseminate compliance and best practice health information and provide technical assistance.
  • Support implementation and compliance with state and federal immunization guidelines.
  • Provide immunization education and recommendations for all age groups.
  • Enroll and support providers that offer immunizations.
  • Provide field education and customer service calls from the public and providers regarding vaccines and immunizations.
  • Develop curriculum, provide training and education, and offer technical assistance to providers to ensure proper storage, handling, and documentation of vaccines.
  • Assist with completing Cooperative Agreement reports as needed.
  • Attend annual conferences and health fairs.
  • Host educational webinars and trainings.
  • Perform other duties related to the position as they arise.
