About The Position

Matrix Providers is hiring a Health Educator to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families in at Travis Air Force Base, California. This is a full-time coverage position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Community Health, Public Health or a human services related field.
  • Graduate from an accredited college or university.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license.
  • One year of specialized experience in a health care and administration services.
  • Experience with ASIMS, AFCHIPS, and electronic medical record programs such as Military Health System (MHS) GENSIS.
  • General medical ethics, telephone etiquette, and excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of medical information systems and automated analytical tools and software.
  • Expertise in quantitative and quantitative analyses techniques using various military computer systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Outlook (e-mail), and Internet familiarity is required. This includes various microcomputer equipment, and be able to input, retrieve and format documentation.
  • Effective communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Research of operational activities may require coordination with high level officials such as the comptroller, civil engineering, or civilian and federal agencies.
  • Must have the ability to handle work fluctuations and escalate non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the right point of contact.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizing and completing assignments within established deadlines with not more than 3-5 exceptions.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross Healthcare Provider Course.

Responsibilities

  • Implements, manage and assists with the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System-Hearing Conservation (DOEHRSHC) Hearing Conservation Program (HCP).
  • Assists/manages with the blood borne pathogen program.
  • Prepares presentations, project papers, staff and biometric reports and other medical administrative correspondence; delivers to senior MTF management. This includes proof reading for grammar and spelling errors, and formatting documents IAW military and medical regulations.
  • Prepares required reports (AMC, Infection Control) that are accurate, according to standard agenda and within established timeframes.
  • Notifies and clinically directs public health staff and other personnel regarding process, policy and requirements.
  • Using analytical skills and tested methodologies, conducts studies in support of various projects, program, processes or initiatives covering all aspects of military health care activities. Projects may be complicated by regulatory requirements, long-range projections and objectives, and/or political and economic uncertainties.
  • Participate in team huddles and meetings to manage and plan patient care and program management.
  • Manages the front desk, answers phone calls, and assists patients during clinical walk-in hours.
  • Perform limited administrative duties, which include maintaining statistical records of workload and data entry and analysis of patient outcomes.
  • Maintain educational materials to support community health and occupational health outreach.
  • Tracks and coordinates occupational illness case investigations.
  • Prepares required reports (AMC, Infection Control) that are accurate, according to standard agenda and within established timeframes 90% of the time.
  • Assists with patient STI interviews/cases, occupational illness investigations, COVID interviews during surges, fetal protection investigations/interviews, and contract tracing interviews. As needed.
  • Studies, analyzes and develops workplace-specific trends by summarizing, interpreting and managing OHME results.
  • Coordinates OHMEs within the MDG and ensures pre-placement, annual/periodic, and termination examinations are completed.
  • Reviews results of pre-placement OHMEs to recommend suitability for job placement.
  • Conducts occupational and food shop visits.
  • Continuously keeps supervisor informed regarding sensitive issues or controversial emerging issues and offers well thought-out recommendations to prevent and/or respond to developing problems with no more than 1-3 exceptions.
  • Provide health promotion and education opportunities including, but not limited to, tobacco awareness; tobacco cessation classes or appointments consistent with the MTF tobacco cessation program; and nutrition education and weight management.
  • Develop population-based programs targeting high-risk groups and individuals, implementing programs through group and individual counseling and education.
  • Plan and implement health education programs as specified in the TO.
  • Maintain educational materials to support health promotion and education.
