About The Position

Imagine Children's Museum is looking for a Public and Community Programs Coordinator. This role is responsible for turning program ideas into fully realized experiences for families. The coordinator will manage logistics, prepare materials, coordinate with performers, artists, vendors, and volunteers, and troubleshoot issues to ensure programs run smoothly. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, enjoys being a central point of contact, and is motivated by creating joyful, hands-on experiences for children and families. This position requires flexibility with scheduling, including evenings and weekends, as the Museum is most active during these times. The role is crucial in ensuring the success of public programs, festivals, and outreach events.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and database systems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Flexibility and ability to respond quickly to changing needs or challenges.
  • Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with various individuals.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to cultural and other differences when working with diverse groups.

  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently, keeping track of numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends, on-and-off-site.

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience working within public and community programming, including activities/performances/programs that meet organizational goals, supporting external vendors, managing event support staff, complying with facilities requirements, and collaborating with external resources.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling and logistics for programs, festivals, and outreach events.
  • Materials preparation and inventory management.
  • Coordinating performers, artists, and community partners.
  • Setting the stage for programs, festivals, and outreach events both on-site and off-site.
  • Working under the supervision of the Public & Community Programs Manager and the Chief Experience Officer to coordinate logistics and produce engaging programs, activities, and events.
  • Supporting external vendors and managing event support staff.
  • Complying with facilities requirements.
  • Collaborating with external resources.
