About The Position

The Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Part-Time Language Instructor (ILOB) for ESL 110 – Academic Entry in English for the Fall 2026 semester. This course focuses on developing listening and reading skills through inferences and patterns of organization in authentic passages. Speaking and writing components involve revising various skills and activities such as dialogues, role-plays, sentence construction, and short paragraph composition. The position is located on the Main Campus and requires in-person instruction.

Requirements

Master's degree in second language teaching, TESL or related discipline.
Two years of experience teaching ESL at the college/university level.
Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent ESL course.
Experience with team-teaching.
TESL Certification or equivalent.
Ability to complete all mandatory legislated training.

Responsibilities

Develop listening and reading skills by introducing students to inferences and patterns of organization in more authentic passages.
Revise various speaking and writing skills.
Conduct activities such as dialogues and role-plays.
Guide students in the construction of simple and compound sentences.
Instruct students in the composition of short paragraphs.
Mutually agree upon teaching schedules with other professors teaching the same section.
Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
