APTPUO: Fall 2026 - PT Professor (9-hour) - ESL 110 F100
About The Position
This position is for a Part-Time Professor teaching ESL 110 – Academic Entry in English for the Fall 2026 semester. The course focuses on developing listening and reading skills through authentic passages, and improving speaking and writing through various activities like dialogues, role-plays, sentence construction, and paragraph composition. The course is offered exclusively on the University of Ottawa campus and requires in-person instruction. Professors teaching the same section mutually agree upon teaching schedules. In circumstances of limited sections on offer and/or conflicting schedules among professors, the unit reserves the right to select professor teaching days for a given section.
Requirements
- Master's degree in second language teaching, TESL or related discipline.
- Two years of experience teaching ESL at the college/university level.
- Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent ESL course.
- Experience with team-teaching.
- TESL Certification or equivalent.
- Ability to teach in English.

- An acceptable level of education/experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop listening and reading skills by introducing students to inferences and patterns of organization in more authentic passages.
- Engage students in speaking and writing activities, including dialogues, role-plays, construction of simple and compound sentences, and composition of short paragraphs.
- Teach the course ESL 110 – Academic Entry in English.
- Mutually agree upon teaching schedules with other professors teaching the same section.
