About The Position

The Psychologist, Crisis Coordinator is a generalist mental health provider serving University of Wisconsin–La Crosse students and provides primary leadership for suicide prevention efforts and emergency response through the Counseling & Testing Center (CTC). The role includes organizing campus suicide-prevention training, coordinating urgent-care and drop-in crisis services, and serving as the primary contact for campus and community entities that support students in distress. The psychologist represents the CTC in local suicide-prevention groups, emergency-response teams, and regional communities of practice. The position provides mental health assessments, including triage, intake, crisis, and risk assessments, as well as individual, couples, and group counseling. Additional work includes referral, consultation, in-service training, outreach, health-promotion activities, applied research, needs assessment, and evaluation of counseling and crisis-response services. The psychologist also contributes to clinical supervision, treatment-program development, campus crisis planning, and department, division, and university committees. Clinical documentation, ongoing professional development, and maintaining appropriate licensure are required. The successful candidate is expected to support a welcoming and inclusive environment and to follow ethical, legal, and accreditation guidelines. The position is full-time from August 1 through May 31 and averages 20 hours per week during June and July. No after-hours crisis coverage is required, although occasional evening or weekend outreach or campus crisis response may occur. Counseling is delivered through a combination of in-person and telehealth services from the onsite office. Established employees may be eligible for limited hybrid telework, depending on departmental needs. The position has limited physical demands in a typical office setting and requires considerable computer-based work.
