Locum MD (Medical Doctor) Psychiatry
About The Position
This is a contract, on-site position ideal for an Associate-level physician who is ready to make an immediate impact in a clinical setting. As a Locum Psychiatry MD, you will provide essential psychiatric care and coverage, ensuring continuity of care for patients in a supportive medical practice environment. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing treatment to a diverse patient population. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, counselors, and administrative staff, to deliver high-quality mental health services that improve patient outcomes and support the overall mission of the practice.
Requirements
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- Completed residency in Psychiatry
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Active and unrestricted medical license in the state of North Carolina
- Experience working as a Psychiatrist in a clinical setting
- Strong diagnostic and therapeutic skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical practice
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Must be board-certified
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments for patients
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring patient responses and side effects
- Provide psychotherapy and crisis intervention services as needed
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, social workers, and psychologists
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records in compliance with regulations
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options
- Participate in case conferences, treatment planning meetings, and clinical supervision
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality
- Provide coverage for on-call psychiatric services as required
- Stay current with advancements in psychiatric treatments and best practices
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
