About The Position

BetterHelp is seeking a licensed Psychiatrist (MD/DO) to provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care remotely through its telemedicine platform. The role includes assessing patients, making diagnoses, prescribing medication when clinically appropriate and permitted by applicable state law, and developing individualized treatment plans. Psychiatrists coordinate care with BetterHelp’s network of licensed therapists and deliver care in accordance with applicable telehealth laws, regulations, professional standards, and BetterHelp’s clinical and service standards. Providers make clinical decisions independently.

This is a flexible, part-time independent contractor (1099) opportunity, not a salaried employee role. BetterHelp supports credentialing, enrollment with multiple health plans, and platform operations. The posting gives estimated effective hourly earnings of $119–$242 as illustrative, non-guaranteed estimates based on modeled assumptions; actual earnings vary. All patient care is delivered remotely through BetterHelp’s telehealth platform.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience as a licensed Psychiatrist.
• An active medical license (MD/DO) in good standing.
• Experience prescribing medication when clinically appropriate and permitted by applicable state law.
• Confidence using technology and online tools to deliver virtual care.
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach.

Responsibilities

• Conduct video consultations and communicate with patients through telemedicine.
• Assess, screen, and diagnose patients, and prescribe medication when clinically appropriate.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on each patient’s needs.
• Coordinate treatment planning and care delivery with BetterHelp’s network of licensed therapists.
• Deliver empathetic, high-quality care while upholding BetterHelp’s clinical and service standards.
• Share feedback with BetterHelp’s product, engineering, and operations teams to help improve the provider and patient experience.
