Psychiatrist (MD/DO) - Remote
About The Position
BetterHelp is hiring licensed psychiatrists to provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care remotely through its telemedicine platform. The role involves supporting access to care for patients who may otherwise have difficulty finding an available provider who accepts their insurance. Providers work collaboratively with BetterHelp’s licensed therapist network while making clinical decisions independently in accordance with applicable state telehealth laws, regulations, and professional standards. This is a flexible, part-time independent contractor (1099) opportunity, not a salaried employee role. BetterHelp supports provider credentialing, payer enrollment, and platform operations. Estimated effective hourly earnings are $119–$242, based on modeled assumptions; this is illustrative and not a guaranteed rate, wage, or salary. Actual earnings vary based on factors including clinical decisions, case mix, scheduling availability, payer reimbursement, licensure, and geographic market factors.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience as a licensed psychiatrist.
- An active medical license (MD/DO) in good standing.
- Experience prescribing medication when clinically appropriate and permitted by applicable state law.
- Confidence using technology and online tools to deliver virtual care.
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach.
- Medical license required.
- United States location required.

Responsibilities
- Conduct video consultations and communicate with patients through telemedicine.
- Assess, screen, and diagnose patients, and prescribe medication when clinically appropriate and permitted by applicable state law.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on each patient’s needs.
- Coordinate treatment planning and care delivery with BetterHelp’s network of licensed therapists.
- Deliver empathetic, high-quality care while upholding BetterHelp’s clinical and service standards.
- Share feedback with BetterHelp’s product, engineering, and operations teams to help improve the provider and patient experience.
