Psychiatrist (MD/DO) - Remote
About The Position
BetterHelp is a technology-enabled mental health marketplace connecting patients with therapists and psychiatric providers covered by their insurance plans. The Psychiatrist provides compassionate, evidence-based care remotely through BetterHelp’s telemedicine platform, helping expand access to mental healthcare. The role is a flexible, part-time independent contractor (1099) opportunity, not a salaried employee position. BetterHelp supports credentialing, payer enrollment, and platform operations. Providers make clinical decisions independently in accordance with applicable state telehealth laws, regulations, and professional standards. Estimated effective hourly earnings are $119–$242, based on modeled assumptions for a 60-minute period that may include patient visits and applicable CPT codes. This is an illustrative estimate, not a guaranteed hourly rate, wage, or salary; actual earnings vary based on clinical decisions, case mix, scheduling availability, payer reimbursement, licensure, geographic market factors, and other considerations.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience as a licensed Psychiatrist.
- An active medical license (MD/DO) in good standing.
- Experience prescribing medication when clinically appropriate and permitted by applicable state law.
- Confidence using technology and online tools to deliver virtual care.
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach.
Nice To Haves
- Previous telemedicine experience.

Responsibilities
- Conduct video consultations and communicate with patients through telemedicine.
- Assess, screen, diagnose, and prescribe medication when clinically appropriate.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on each patient’s needs.
- Coordinate treatment planning and care delivery with BetterHelp’s network of licensed therapists.
- Deliver empathetic, high-quality care while upholding BetterHelp’s clinical and service standards.
- Share feedback with BetterHelp’s product, engineering, and operations teams to help improve the provider and patient experience.
