About The Position

BetterHelp is seeking a licensed Psychiatrist (MD/DO) to provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care remotely through its telemedicine platform. The role supports access to mental healthcare for patients who may face barriers to finding an available provider who accepts their insurance. Psychiatrists collaborate with BetterHelp’s network of licensed therapists while making all clinical decisions independently and in accordance with applicable state telehealth laws, regulations, and professional standards.

This is a flexible, part-time independent contractor (1099) opportunity, not a salaried employee role. BetterHelp supports credentialing, payer enrollment, and platform operations. Estimated effective hourly earnings of $119–$242 are illustrative, modeled estimates and are not guaranteed; actual earnings vary based on clinical decisions, case mix, scheduling availability, payer reimbursement, licensure, geographic market factors, and other considerations.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience as a licensed Psychiatrist.
• An active medical license (MD/DO) in good standing.
• Experience prescribing medication when clinically appropriate and permitted by applicable state law.
• Confidence using technology and online tools to deliver virtual care.
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach.

Nice To Haves

• Previous telemedicine experience.
• Active medical licenses in multiple states.
• Fluency in additional languages.

Responsibilities

• Conduct video consultations and communicate with patients through telemedicine.
• Assess, screen, and diagnose patients, and prescribe medication when clinically appropriate and permitted by applicable state law.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on each patient’s needs.
• Coordinate treatment planning and care delivery with BetterHelp’s network of licensed therapists.
• Deliver empathetic, high-quality care while upholding BetterHelp’s clinical and service standards.
• Share feedback with BetterHelp’s product, engineering, and operations teams to help improve the provider and patient experience.
