About The Position

Brook Lane Hospital in Hagerstown, Maryland, is hiring a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist for its inpatient program. The role is 100% inpatient, with no clinic responsibilities, and includes a 7-on/7-off schedule consisting of 10-hour days. The psychiatrist will manage a caseload of approximately 16 patients in a 38-bed child and adolescent inpatient program with an average census of approximately 32. The units serve patients ages 8–17, with an average length of stay of 8–10 days. Admissions come primarily from regional emergency departments. Common diagnoses include ADHD, depressive disorders, trauma, autism spectrum disorders, oppositional defiant disorder, and adolescent substance use. The psychiatrist will work with a multidisciplinary behavioral health team that includes nurses, mental health associates, social workers, counselors, psychologists, a discharge planning team, and medical consult services. The position offers teaching opportunities with psychiatry residents, medical students, and NP and PA programs. Call responsibilities include one night per week, one in six weekends, and daytime on-call coverage for emergency department referral screenings and urgent inpatient needs. Brook Lane and Meritus Health provide a regional behavioral health network that includes inpatient beds, psychiatry residency training, residential crisis care, day treatment, school-based mental health services, and expanding outpatient and telehealth services. The posting describes a collaborative and caring work environment. Compensation includes a $335,000 base salary, a $250,000 sign-on bonus, and up to $50,000 in relocation assistance.

Responsibilities

Provide inpatient psychiatric care to children and adolescents ages 8–17.
